Lidl invest in camera surveillance in the Swedish stores. In late 2008, a lot of the 141 stores will be installed with an extensive IP camera network. Arvid Johansson, the CIO and head of security explains the reason for the decision: "With this new concept we want to fight theft and other crimes which have lately increased in our stores. We want to increase the safety of our employees by use of surveillance. The recorded video material also improves the cooperation between the police and Lidl.".

Lidl have consulted MKS Sverige AB, a company with nationwide service and lot of experience in cctv. Existing stores are upgraded with an analog system, recording units from Ernitec and dome cameras from Panasonic. New stores are equipped with an advanced IP solution consisting of MKS NVR-3, software from Milestone and Axis cameras.

Recorded images from this type of surveillance cameras is used more and more when solving crimes nowadays. For this reason the Police in Stockholm municipality welcomes the investment done by Lidl.

Netto fights theft with IP surveillance technology

The value-priced supermarket chain Netto now starts to fight off theft and shrinkage in their Swedish stores with the latest within IP surveillance technology. the solution is based on "high tech" cameras and a network video recording software.

Netto supermarkets fight theft with IP video

With the newest technology in surveillance, the value-priced supermarket chain Netto is winning the retail battle against robberies, theft and shrinkage in its Swedish stores. The solution is network cameras with IP video management software from Milestone Systems.

....."Throughout his collaborations of many years with security partner MKS, Netto learned about Milestone Systems software: as of August 2008 Netto has implemented their IP video platform in 54 of its Swedish stores. The goal is to continue expanding the solution to include all of the Swedish Netto sites."
